Banning Smoking In Apartment Areas??

Hello readers,

Turns out last post, wasn’t my last post!!!! So yet again, I have another issue. Our government is debating whether or not to ban smoking in apartment areas. I agree, we should, but shouldn’t we look at this from more than one perspective?

First of all, yes, smoking does harm your lungs. Especially in apartment buildings, or outside aprtment buildings, where smoke isnt just concealed in the room where the smoker is smoking. No, it travels through the hall, through vents and ducts, and will harm lungs. If there is young in the apartment, then their already exposed to second hand smoke at a young age, then they might feel more obliged to smoke when they are older, or they might get lung cancer if their lungs can’t take all the smoke.

And then there is the smokers point of view. How would you like it if you were banned your rights to smoke in your living area, which you bought? I’m sure that would be unfair to them, yes, but in the overall picture, do rights really overcome health?? I think not.

GREAT PLACES TO GO IN BRACEBRIDGE

Hey readers,

this will probably be my last post, just to tell you,and and I would like to list some great places to go, here in Bracebridge. Especially for the summer! For Instance, if you’re looking for some good ice cream, you should go to Marty’s, on main street. I’m just going to list the rest. Some great places in Bracebridge are;

Muskoka Falls (be sure to visit the ‘rope swing’!)

Rec. Centre

The Gingerbread House

The Bracebridge Library

The Purple Bike Shop or Neilson’s

Go boating or do fun water activities in Lake Muskoka

And that’s pretty much all I can think off for now.

IS ‘CODE TALKERS’ A GOOD BOOK?

Dear readers,

I personally do not think code talkers was a good book. It used an excessive amount of detail at some points that was not needed, and not enough detail at other times. For example, it has a point where it says blood is spurting through one guys fingers, and it never explains, reactions, and emotions of him. So if you want a whole bunch of dates and types of guns and machines, you should defenitley read this book. (not) :@

IS CANADA’S WONDERLAND SUITABLE FOR A GR. 6-7 CLASS?

Dear readers,

I personally think that Canada’s Wonderland is a

suitable field trip for a grade 6-7 class. My

reasons for thinking this are, first of all, it gives a

good chance for children to just have fun! They

have worked hard at school all year long, and

they deserve a break. Also they can meet tons

of new friends there, and have a good experience

with learning about not accepting deals that

are unfair and impossible. For example, there

are a lot of games there that try to cheat you,

and you will definetely have a problem like that

in real life.

Secondly, they also have a learning point of view.

For instance, the structures and elictricity used

can teach them more about these subjects.

In conclusion, I don’t think that they should

cancel further trips to Wonderland!

Is Playground Equipment TOO Safe?

Is playground equipment too safe? That question has been going around at our school lately. Yes sometimes people will take outragious and crazy precautions to protect our children. But have we gone to far? Personally I don’t think we have. Our parents do protect us, but not to unneccessary amounts. Our playgrounds have had children harmed on them but not enough to take serious action. We protect our playgrounds, but not too much, and not exactly, not enough. We haven’t done anything crazy, like for example wrapping our playgrounds, or children up in bubble wrap. But our playground equipment is safe enough for us to play on. But too safe, not exactly!

Terry Fox Closing?

The wonderful trail across from our school, the Terry Fox trail, will soon be closed down, if the habitants around the forest do not agree with it being open. A number of their insurance companies have told them that having kids running around on the property behind them, is a huge no-no. What if one of us gets hurt? They say there will be a sueing rate at risk. Also, they are going to raise the cost of their insurance. Well truly, who do they think we are? Some money wanting tyrants who sue because their child fell down in the forest? Well we are not. There are millions of rates of us falling off swings or playground equipment, and being hurt. But the school has never been sued for that. There have been previous accidents (no names) where a child has fallen and broken or sprained, or just basically hurt something and we have not sued them for that before. So all of a sudden we are just going to start sueing these people? Definitely not!
Next, they are seriously putting a price on joy and enjoyment? That forest has been accessible by the school for years, and has created a enjoyable place for all ages, and a good teaching area. They seriously want to raise the price on that? Lastly, our school has hosted the Evan Luker, Terry Fox, and other running events at our school, all involving the use of the Terry Fox trail. Yet taking this enjoyment away, our school would not have that privelege. WE are hosting it this year, and would have that experience taken away from us, they are seriously willing to do that?
In conclusion, we should absolutely NOT have our rights for the Terry Fox trail taken away.
